Surface grinding

Surface grinding is offered on our Göckel surface grinder with very fine tolerances and surfaces with low surface roughness. We perform surface grinding on both soft steel and very hard hardened steel. Well-executed surface grinding ensures a smooth surface free of uneven material.

What is surface grinding?

Surface grinding is a technique where a grinding machine is used to remove material from the surface of an object. The grinding machine can be equipped with different grinding wheels or discs depending on the type of material and the desired finish. Surface grinding can be used to smooth out irregularities on the surface, remove rust or prepare the surface for further processing, such as painting or coating.

After the process in the surface grinding machine, the material is transferred to the deburring machine as well as the vibration dryer. Here, the edges, for example with burrs, are removed and then dried for further production.

Deburring as a technique

Deburring is a technique where material is removed from the edges and corners of an object so that they become rounded.

Deburring can be applied to different types of materials, making the surface more manageable, for example by removing sharp edges or improving the aesthetics of the object. Deburring can be carried out manually, for example with a file or grinding machine. In addition, machine methods such as a lathe or milling machine can be used.
